Clamming Up Huh?

I usually write a piece about not writing, and find something to write about in the next fifteen minutes. However, this is not one of those pieces. It's just that sometimes a phrase like, "clamming up" is really fitting for the action, thing or event that it describes. I tend to think that language used to be more colorful - say like in the 30's and 40's. In fact, here's a neat little glossary of hardboiled slang. Have a look and tell me you don't agree.
